Kafka has spent years building up his physical and mental strength, training to be able to escape his cruel father and survive as a runaway. Cats and people carry on conversations, a ghostlike pimp employs a Hegel-quoting prostitute, a forest harbors soldiers apparently unaged since World War II, and rainstorms of fish fall from the sky. Their odyssey, as mysterious to us as it is to them, is enriched throughout by vivid accomplices and mesmerizing events. And the aging Nakata, who never recovered from a wartime affliction, finds his highly simplified life suddenly upset. At fifteen, Kafka Tamura runs away from home, either to escape a gruesome oedipal prophecy or to search for his long-missing mother and sister. His style of writing inspires a lot of novice readers and as well as veterans in the book reading world. The book is written by Haruki Murakami in a very beautiful manner. Complete randomness and poor plot devices. Kafka on the Shore is a genre fiction novel with a very attention-grabbing tale. Some parts lack any feeling, while others are overbearing with emotions. Conflict resolution is about the quality of vending machine food. Hard to recommend this book for a couple reasons.
